The “Kabuki Room” (Sakura no Ma) features theater decorations and motifs from various productions throughout the space. Please enjoy your stay in this space that evokes the splendor of a theater.
The interior features Art Deco-style lighting that adds a touch of glamour to the Minamiza lobby, as well as “makeup lights” of the type used in dressing rooms.
The aisle was designed to evoke the “hanamichi”—the walkway used in Kabuki theater—and we recreated a curtain featuring a logo styled after a traditional theater crest in the manner of a “raising curtain.”
Recreating the Setting of the Play “Kyō-Kakko Musume: Dōjōji”
"Kyō-kanoko Musume Dōjōji" is a popular Kabuki dance piece in which the shirabyōshi Hanako, dancing beneath the blossoms of the cherry trees in full bloom, changes costumes one after another to express the various emotions of a woman in love through dance. We’ve incorporated motifs from the costumes, painted playbills, and Kabuki stage sets into various areas of the room.
A room designed to evoke the atmosphere of a theater where Kabuki performances are staged
We have installed “lanterns” bearing the theater’s crest, similar to those found in the audience seating area of the Minamiza—one of Kyoto’s most iconic theaters—and designed the ceiling to resemble the Minamiza’s opulent, golden “lattice ceiling.” We have also incorporated the color scheme of the “Jōshiki-maku,” which is considered a symbol of Kabuki.
Located in Kyoto, the birthplace of Kabuki, this concept room—created in collaboration with Shochiku Co., Ltd.—is themed around “Kabuki,” a traditional Japanese performing art.
With theatrical decorations and motifs from various Kabuki plays incorporated throughout, guests can enjoy a stay in a space that evokes the splendor of a theater amidst cherry blossoms in full bloom.
